What can I catch here at night? Water, habitat, window and gear

A catch in DREDGE needs the water, the habitat depth, the time window and a method your gear supports to line up. The fish finder filters on all four at once.

Field guide

A catch in DREDGE depends on four conditions at once. The spot sits in a water and a habitat depth, the fish keeps to a time window, and your gear has to support a method that takes it. The encyclopedia shows those conditions only for species you have already caught.

Take a night in The Marrows over Shallow water with a rod. Black Grouper bites there only at night, while Grey Eel and Stingray take the hook at any hour. Gulf Flounder shares the same Shallow water but only by day, so it drops out. Fish finder narrows the list to that water, habitat, window and method in one step.

The Fishmonger puts the habitat rule plainly: “it’s important to know what depth you’re working with.” A rod reaches only the habitats it names, so a Shallow spot needs gear such as Flexible Fish Pole, which reaches Coastal and Shallow water.
